By default, your team is "Private", meaning you'll have to add the people or groups you want on the team.If you want a different name, contact the ITS Help Desk and request the name to be customized. When you create the team, it will be named for you.After watching the video, there are a few things to know about creating a Team. Students, faculty and staff can create a Team for their group, department, study session, club, etc. The Microsoft Teams Desktop Application is also available for download through the UNF Software Center by employees. Select the waffle icon in the upper lefthand corner.To access Microsoft Teams, log into Office 365 through (or through myWings). Users can work together using chat instead of email and use channels instead of just file folders. Team conversations, files, meetings, and apps are shared live together in a single shared workspace. Messages sent from the faculty or staff Skype for Business app will appear in students’ Teams app.Īlso, all users in a Teams online class session/meeting can use the group chat during the online meeting. From the Teams meeting controls, click or tap the speech balloon icon to reveal the group meeting chat. In the meantime, faculty and staff can continue to use Skype for Business to conduct private chats with students until switched to Teams calling. IT Services is gradually moving all faculty and staff to Teams calling to prevent calling issues. Activating Chat and Calls for students did not pose a problem, as most students do not use university phones. Activating Chat for faculty and staff would also change Calls in a way that would disrupt their university phone service. Why not offer Chat to all faculty and staff? For underlying technical reasons, Chat and Calls must be paired together in Teams. In the left navigation bar for Teams, students see both the Chat and Calls icons, but some faculty (and staff) do not. Different features appear in Microsoft Teams, depending on your Teams account.
